Best herbal medications for depression and anxiety

Herbal medications are effective in treating depression and anxiety. There is some scientific evidence behind it. Following article is based on a review of several studies conducted by scientific community to evaluate effectiveness of several known herbal medications.
People use herbal medications for various reasons. According to (Richardson, 2004), “British consumers have been shown to expect symptom relief, improved quality of life and self-help advice from consulting complementary medical therapists”.
In addition, internet is flooded with many websites claiming effectiveness of various herbs. However, most of the information is not based on sound clinical trial data. "Around 41 million websites offer information on the subject, much of which is unreliable or outright dangerous" (Ernst&Schmidt, 2004).

  1. Many people believe that products labeled "natural" are always safe and good for them. This is not necessarily true. Herbal medicines do not have to go through the testing that drugs do. Some herbs, such as comfrey and ephedra, can cause serious harm. Some herbs can interact with prescription or over-the-counter medicines.
